Dear Customer,
On Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 June, the NATO Summit will take place at the World Forum in The Hague. As a result, road users in the Randstad will experience disruption from Saturday 22 June at 5:00 PM until Friday 27 June at 5:00 AM. During this period, extensive security measures will be implemented, including (partial) closures of motorways and local roads in the Randstad, particularly around The Hague, Leiden and Amsterdam.
|
- Limited Accessibility: Areas within a 15 km radius of The Hague will be extremely difficult to access during this period. Access routes towards the Randstad – including motorways, regional and local roads – will also be partially closed. Besides The Hague also Leiden, Wassenaar, the Bollenstreek, Katwijk, Haarlemmermeer and Noordwijk will consequently be less accessible.
|
- Potential Delivery Delays: Shipments may experience delays, sometimes by several days. The most significant traffic disruption is expected on Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 June.
|
- Major Road Closures: Important routes such as the A4, A5, A44, N44, N440 and N434 will be temporarily (partially) closed. For example, the A5 will be closed in both directions between junction Raasdorp and junction De Hoek from Sunday afternoon, 22 June, until Friday morning, 27 June.

GLS deliveries during the NATO Summit
|
Deliveries: We continuously strive to deliver all shipments. However, in certain areas, it will not be permitted to deliver or collect parcels or pallets during and around the NATO Summit. An overview of closed areas can be found here. Letter mail can be delivered, but letterbox parcels cannot. If requested by the recipient, parcels can be delivered to parcel points on the outer edge of the closed zones. The police will check all parcels at the access control points for the restricted area. For delivery to a parcel point, we require the recipient's correct email address. Therefore, it is especially important during this period that the correct email address is provided.
Communication: Should there be any altered or additional information regarding our services during this period, we will communicate it via our regular communication channels.

For the most up-to-date information on road closures, diversions and other measures, we recommend consulting the website of the Dutch central government (Rijksoverheid).
Please keep a close eye on current information regarding the NATO Summit and adjust your travel and shipping plans accordingly. It might be wise to order extra stock now so it can be delivered before the summit. As always, GLS will do everything in its power to deliver shipments as smoothly as possible – even during this challenging period.
Thank you for your understanding!
With regards,
